Supplier selection and monitoring

We consider it a priority of fundamental importance to safeguard the sustainability of our products through a rigorous process of ethical, social and environmental selection and monitoring applied to our suppliers, and by constantly sharing with them the principles, policies and actions for the promotion of sustainable procurement.

Each supplier is selected by means of a special procedure based on their own sustainability assessment data sheets, monitored by our company. They are encouraged to improve the most critical aspects of their activities, according to a precise calendar plan.

Methodological note. The 2020 assessment was conducted on 29 suppliers, representing 87.9% of Icat Food’s suppliers and 98.8% of the purchase volume, with regard to seafood products and other analogous raw materials. The percentages reported on the website regarding suppliers’ sustainability policies are calculated with reference to this sample.

The generation of shared value

The development of a sustainable supply chain contributes to the generation of shared value, distributed to all the stakeholders in the supply chain, generating positive economic, social and environmental benefits in the local communities where our partners operate.

From the hiring of local labour to the rejection of any form of discrimination; from the promotion of free association to the protection of workers’ health and safety, our company promotes a sustainable development model aimed at generating positive economic, social and environmental impact for the local communities where our suppliers and their workers operate.
