Sustainability

In the fisheries sector, corporate social responsibility is inseparably linked to the issue of sustainability, which can be considered as the ability of today’s generations to conduct fishing and other related activities without compromising the same possibility for future generations. In this way it becomes possible to meet the objectives of economic efficiency, social equity and environmental protection in the short, medium and long term.

From the second half of the last century onwards, the increasingly widespread use of certain particularly invasive tools and techniques have irremediably endangered the ecosystem and marine biodiversity. In this context, in addition to the traditional vocational and professional principles, there are additional elements concerning the ethical management of the production chain, to ensure the sustainability of fishing activities.

Because if the marine ecosystem were to become extinct, the entire fishing industry would also disappear.
